Raffles Milano is the international institute where students actively collaborate with faculty to create projects of hybridization, experimentation and research, breaking down homogenization and cultural, technological and geographical barriers. Founded in Singapore in 1990, Raffles Education is now the largest network of design schools in the world with 16 colleges and universities spread across 9 countries in Asia, the Middle East and Europe: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and China.
From annual fashion shows to design projects organized for Milan Design week, often carried out in collaboration with international companies, the network’s European hub is an epicenter of initiatives offering a cross-section of multiculturalism.
Vittoria Baroni, fashion reporter and student participant in the 2024 show, narrates, together with Ahmed and Tommaso, their preparation for this year’s event and their project vision and future aspirations. Within the Raffles Milano institute, where an international and cosmopolitan environment is always present, the students take you on a behind-the-scenes journey through Raffles’ labs and classrooms to show how students’ ideas and dreams come to life.
Art sweeps our soul from the dust of the everyday,” Picasso said, inviting us to explore new universes of expressive freedom. Students from Raffles Milano’s Three-Year Course in Fashion Design and Master’s in Fashion & Business have transformed this vision into living clothes for Milano Fashion Graduate. Fashion, an immediate art, becomes a visceral and personal statement. Inspired by Cezanne, Christo, Hadid and Kapoor, 24 designers shaped dreams and freedom into fluid forms, transforming human bodies into canvases of dreamlike expression.
