Sustainable aspects and economic/distribution difficulties of a creative form of reuse.
In the context of Fashion Graduate Italia, Accademia del Lusso is offering an online talk dedicated to secondary school students to explore upcycling, a practice increasingly central to the contemporary fashion scenario. Teachers Marina Spadafora, Paolo Lapicca and Stefano Sacchi will lead a dynamic discussion on the differences between reuse, recycling and upcycling, analyzing their environmental impact and cultural value.
Fashion production cycles, the concept of planned obsolescence and the potential of discarded garments as raw material for new creations will be explored. Through historical and current examples, the talk will show how upcycling can represent a form of creative new vintage while becoming a powerful means of communication for brands.
There will be no shortage of reflections on the economic and distribution challenges involved in this practice, highlighting the crucial role of innovation and sustainable awareness in the future of fashion.
