Istituto Secoli, a fashion school founded in 1934, aims to spread the culture of Made in Italy by transmitting to students a working method and full knowledge of the sector’s creative, technical and manufacturing development processes. This year the Institute celebrates 90 years; 9 decades that have contributed to writing the history of Italian fashion. Studying at Istituto Secoli means becoming a fashion maker capable of creating garments designed in every detail and, for the three-year degree students, showcasing their collections during the Secoli Fashion Show, an event where the skills acquired during the course of study are put into practice. For the talented graduates, the Institute brings to the stage, on the most important catwalks for young creatives, the Designer to Watch project where the school’s emerging talents interpret styles and trends within unprecedented collections in which experimentation and tradition come together.
Behind every collection created at Istituto Secoli is a great deal of work. The result is the creation of an unprecedented fashion product, the fruit of design methodologies that are on a par in terms of timing and production processes with those of the brands in the sector. For our young designers, it is always exciting to show their collections on the catwalk, highlighting not only their diverse creativity, but also the skills and expertise acquired at the Institute.
9 Designers to Watch, 9 collections, 45 outfits: these are the numbers of Istituto Secoli’s Fashion Show scheduled at Fashion Graduate Italia 2024. The best talents of the school – Daniele Cavallo, Ilaria Gerratana, Michela Santegidi, Miriam Maggioni, Gian Gavino Solinas, Gabriele Fraggetta, Benedetta Carrubba, Verena Gislimberti, Lisa Petroncini – will take to the runway at the Base in Milan, bringing their unprecedented capsules.
