The workshop deals with a strong theme of sustainable fashion: upcycling, transformation of “defect” into something new and unique.
“MANO-METTERE” proposes a cognitive path of manual mending made with felt.
How many times in our wardrobes we had sweaters or knitted accessories worn out by time, but for which we feel affection and don’t want to throw them away?
Denise Bonapace’s workshop will be activated by working on knitted garments with holes or damaged in the structure, to recreate the texture but not only.
Being able to enhance and customize an item of clothing does not mean hiding or closing the hole, but also highlighting it and making it a strong point.
The purpose of the workshop is to educate to a new awareness in the relationship between ourselves and the things that surround us, experimenting and understanding how it is not necessary to throw away the sweaters with holes, but how it is possible instead to be able to redesign and customize them to the fullest, through the use of manual techniques, producing not only a “new” artifact, but creating a conscious value chain.
