The is devoted to the processing and treatments, including innovative and experimental ones, that can be used on textiles, with the aim of showing, even practically, the potential for the transformation of textile fibers and the ability, inherent in these treatment techniques, to enable forms of artistic expression.
During the workshop, the general characteristics of some fabrics will first be illustrated, including through empirical demonstrations and hands-on activities, and then, with the support of lecturers and students from IAAD's Textile&Fashion Design Department, various types of treatments will be applied (such as, for example, coating, resin coating, three-dimensional extrusions, modeling of tricot yarns) guiding the participants through a course that, in addition to conveying some basics about textile fibers, will allow them to explore, as in an experimental journey, the expressive potential of textiles and the variety of forms, languages and suggestions that the material can offer.
The workshop will be taught by Giuseppina Di Paola - Coordinator of the Level I Academic Diploma Course in Textile & Fashion Design - and Caterina Pallara - IAAD Lecturer in Patternmaking, Sewing and Tailoring Laboratory, Trend Research, Fashion Product Technology.
