The School of Fashion and Textiles is world-renowned as a dynamic and progressive educational leader whose impact influences the future of fashion and textiles. The School of Fashion and Textiles continues developing new program delivery environments. The main campus at Brunswick houses ‘state of the art’ facilities, including design studios, enterprise hubs, advanced manufacturing and bespoke making spaces. While the city campus has an integrated design, making, thinking workshop space for the 4th year of the Bachelor of Fashion (Design) (Honours), and Bachelor of Textiles (Design) (Honours), as well as Masters of Fashion (Design) and creative practice HDR candidates.

Concept collection: Sono sempre stata interessata al tempo e al movimento nella moda. Questa collezione in particolare è incentrata sull’evocazione del movimento in qualcosa che per natura è immobile – desidero esplorare come un’alterazione visiva o mentale possa essere trasmessa attraverso diversi mezzi testurizzati.
Il concetto alla base della collezione che propongo è la distillazione dell’esperienza visiva ed emotiva del “blur” (sfocatura) nell’abito, e come le esperienze percettive ad essa correlate possano essere rappresentate. La collezione tocca anche concetti affini che mi permettono di esplorare parole che possiedono vita propria nella loro definizione, indagando le strutture linguistiche che modellano la nostra percezione o addirittura creano la sensazione di “sfocatura”.
Queste parole sono: sfocare, nascondere, muovere e perdere il fuoco. Nella mia collezione ho considerato queste parole per i loro significati simbolici, creando tecniche tessili che riflettono la mia visione di questa simbologia – ad esempio l’iper-rappresentazione e gli elementi di distrazione dell’esperienza della sfocatura, visibili nella tecnica del taglio laser della pelle e nell’intreccio della pelle, per creare linee che distraggono e sfumano non solo il capo, ma anche il corpo di chi lo indossa.
Questi look sono volutamente esagerati e disorientanti a causa della stratificazione eccessiva, perché desidero che si perda ogni riferimento a un archetipo riconoscibile.
La mia intenzione è che questa collezione si collochi a metà strada tra il concetto di indossabilità e inutilità pratica. I look possono essere presentati come completi, oppure in elementi modulari e removibili, in modo che chi li indossa possa scegliere come esprimersi.
La collezione rende omaggio a tecniche tessili laboriose e artigianali, come rappresentazione di questa “inutilità”, ma al tempo stesso si concentra su uno stile da atelier, dove l’artigianalità è profondamente valorizzata e vi è una semplicità nella perfezione.
L’obiettivo è creare in un modo che possa spostare l’attenzione nel menswear, generando una sfocatura tra i riferimenti.

Australia’s climate and rugged terrain has fostered a society that values outdoor activity, athleticism, and a sports-loving spirit. Nowhere is this more apparent than the Australian Football League (AFL), a uniquely Australian sport, that has become a powerful symbol of community and collective identity. Layered, twisted and tied scarves evokes the communal experience of supporting a team, while key signifiers of the AFL uniform – sleeveless jerseys, high-thigh length shorts and football boots are reimagined off the football ground, shifting the purpose and function of the uniform.
